Broken Hill 2024

  • Day 1 -  Holly and the airport shuttles will transfer you to Sydney Airport for your flight to Adelaide Airport where Scott will be waiting to take you to the Clare Valley Resort (1 night).  
     
  • Day 2 - Our first stop is the historic mining town of Burra where our local guide will tell the stories of the two rival companies nicknamed the Nobs and the Snobs. Separate villages developed, which are still distinguishable today. The Cornish lived in Redruth, the Scotts in Aberdeen, the Welsh in Llwchwr, and the English in Hampton. Each village having separate shops and facilities. We continue on to Broken Hill. Old Willyama Motor Inn (4 Nights)  
     
  • Day 3  - Our local guide will introduce us to Broken Hill with and informative sightseeing tour. Lunch is included today with a visit to Bells Milk Bar for a real taste of the 1950's. After lunch, a tour around the Royal Flying Doctor Visitor Centre. The RFDS at Broken Hill is the only working base in Australia that is open to the public. We take a look at the line of Lode Miner's Memorial. Tonight we dine at the historical Palace Hotel. Built in 1889 the hotel is famous for its many murals and its connection to the Australia iconic movie Pricilla Queen of the Desert. 
     
  • Day 4 - We start the day with the Albert Kerten Mining Museum before heading out to the outback ghost town of Silverton. We visit the famous Silverton Hotel, Gaol Museum, Old School House and the galleries, finishing the day with the Mundi Mundi Lookout where the plains stretch out for an eternity.
  • Day 5  - There are more galleries than pubs in Broken Hill these days and we visit the Pro Hart and Jack Absalom Galleries. Some free time in town today. A stop at the Silver City Mint & Art Centre to view The Big Picture. Late afternoon we head to the Sculpture Symposium for a dusk viewing.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       
  • Day 6 -  We leave Broken Hill today passing through Wilcannia and Cobar arriving at Nyngan for an overnight stay. Nyngan Country Manor ( 1 night )                                                                                                                                                                         
  • Day 7 -  Today we have a mystery morning tea stop before continuing our journey back home. With some interesting stops along the way the Aurora coach arrives back to Sydney late afternoon where the shuttles will be waiting to take you home.
